The Nintendo Switch has arrived, what an exciting day! Now as always lets take a look at the details:

Lets start with the case, this is the official Nintendo case, when I first ordered it I wasn’t sure it was for me but after it arrived these fears soon disappeared. The case looks great, it is sleek in black, it has the Nintendo Switch logo on the top also in black. The build quality is good and it can store games and doubles up as a stand.

Next up we have the pro controller, I already tried this controller at the London preview event last week and I must say it is excellent, ideal for long Zelda sessions.

I really like the transparency on the controller this is a great design feature, all the buttons feel great, it has a very solid build to it. You can see the Nintendo Switch logo at the top, it looks much better than controllers from Sony and Microsoft which are just boring black.

The pro controller isn’t essential but it is very useful for long gaming sessions and for games such as Street Fighter as it has the all important D-pad!

Now to the main event, the box has different designs on each side, one side as shown above shows the handheld mode of the console and the other shows it in the dock, the box is much smaller than I expected, it is nice to see compact packaging for a console.

Once opened you are presented with the joycons and the Switch and some basic instructions on how to set the system up.

The dock for the Nintendo Switch looks great, it is very light, it houses the power cable and the HDMI cable, it has USB charging ports on the side which are ideal for charing your pro controller while charging your console. Once the console is docked your gaming is upscaled from 720p in handheld mode to 1080p for TV mode.

Here we have the additional content in the box, the manual, HDMI cable, USB-C AC adapter, joycon straps and grip, the grip does feel good but the pro controller has the edge.

The console itself looks fantastic, here it is with the grey joycons, the console does look very smart, it feels like something Apple would produce, but only better as it’s Nintendo!

At the top of the console you have the game card slot, headphone jack, a fan vent, volume and power buttons. On the back you can see the Nintendo Switch logo and the kickstand.

Then its ON! The excitement of turning it on for the first time and hearing that Nintendo Switch sound and seeing the logo 🙂

To conclude I am so excited by this console, Nintendo have done a excellent job and on first impressions everything looks great. The console was very easy to setup, I connected it to the TV and to my wifi network. I then connected to the eshop and downloaded RMX racing, a excellent title. After a few races I popped in Zelda and enjoyed that in all its glory. I haven’t shown the console running in this review but all I can say is it looks amazing. This is such a powerful machine especially as a handheld, I will be using it on planes, trains and while I’m in the car. Of course there will be times when I play Zelda at home but the handheld part excites me more. The graphics look great, they are a real step from the Wii U, great job Nintendo!
